Leading a two-person team, you’ll report directly to the CTO. Your jack-of-all-trades experience will serve you well here: customers from every market sector are integrating Opalis’ software—leading to constant internal growth and a pressing need for security, data integrity and troubleshooting.

Given its exposure to the many technologies and clients that Opalis interacts with, this role offers excellent career growth potential. Case in point: the last person to hold this position was promoted to professional services.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Monitoring of the LAN (Windows Active Directory) WAN, VPN and remote access
• Management of the email server (MS Exchange) and BES server
• Management of the DB server (MS SQL Server) with some Oracle and MySQL knowledge
• Management of the Web and application servers (Apache/PHP/mySQL on Linux)
• Management of IIS, mail filters and anti-virus applications
• Management of the remote access and VPN
• Tape back-up administration and restoration
• Supporting Windows-based internal users and external users
• Management of WAN and Datacenter

Secondary responsibilities:
• Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
• Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
• Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine and recommend hardware or software related to such changes.
• Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
• Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs.
• Monitor network performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
• Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
• Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Coordinate with vendors and with company personnel in order to facilitate purchases.
• Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records.
• Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
• Train people in computer system use.
• Manage 2 people. A desktop support person and a DBA/Developer.

Who Should Apply
• Education: Degree or diploma in related field
• Minimum Experience: 5+ years relevant experience in similar position
• Experience administering: Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, Terminal services Full understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, and DHCP
• Experience with Linux/Unix, Apache and MySQL a MUST
• Programming experience with PHP or C is a plus
