The Opportunity

Take responsibility for the organization and management of Home Trust’s IT infrastructure. In addition to maintenance duties across functional areas, you’ll prepare short- and long-term strategic plans for the network’s physical assets, integrity and performance.

The team you’ll work with is small, laid-back and familial: as proven by a turnover rate of zero in the past nine years.

Like the Team Lead, Unix Administrator role, this position offers a healthy mix of hands-on troubleshooting and tactical problem-solving.

The company is completing a major platform transition, moving from Portfolio Plus to SAP on HP-UX. Reporting to the Manager of IT Operations, you’ll keep an eye on network performance and anticipate hardware requirements, plus schedule and resolve both hardware and software issues.

This role offers an intermediate-level network specialist the challenge of managing the assets of a fast-growing public company. With a healthy amount of autonomy and responsibility and an environment that’s in transition, there’s room for professional development and growth.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, support, and optimize key areas that ensure the stable operation of the organization’s IT infrastructure. particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems. The incumbent will also schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

  • Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, and so on.
  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure administration and project management.
  • Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the team.
  • Define hardware and software standards in conjunction with owners and stakeholders.
  • Test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining network infrastructure.
  • Test server performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining server infrastructure.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
  • Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures.
  • Work with external provider to manage firewall configuration and issues
  • Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation
Who Should Apply

You’re a down-to-earth person who’s looking to join a salt-of-the-earth team. Straightforward communication and a congenial personality who can get things done will impress the judges.

Naturally you also need a healthy technology pedigree.

Light travel to other company offices (in your own vehicle) is required and some irregular working hours can be expected.

Here are the requirements:

  • 4-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science and at least 5 years equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in CCNA, CCNP, MCSE or equivalent
  • Ability to configure VLAN for data and for VoIP, trunk, routing protocol, EIGRP, OSPF, MPLS, etc.
  • Design VLAN, routing strategy, traffic prioritization
  • Proficiency and knowledge of Cisco IOS and hardware (4500’s and 3750’s, PIX, ASA)
  • Experience with configuring Citrix Access Gateway and SSL/RSA VPN
  • At least 3 years experience managing and delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence.
  • Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.
  • At least 2 years successful leadership of an infrastructure team.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting hardware.
  • Knowledge of current protocols and standards, including TCP/IP
  • Ability to make sound and logical judgments.
  • Demonstrated leadership and personnel/project management skills.
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Able to conduct research into issues and products as required.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
